Tabitha Bennett – Telling: Denver

My name is Tabitha Bennett.  I’m navigating the world right now in vain and vague attempts to figure out who I am.I know that I’m a writer, poet, dime-store psychoanalyst, and student. I have designs to be some sort of Visual Artist when I grow up. I’m currently a thirty-one year old Junior at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. My hobbies include abnormal psychology, delusions of grandeur, and volunteering.

Gina Fasciani – Telling: Denver

Gina Fasciani enrolled in ROTC while attending Oral Roberts University’s nursing program. Upon graduation she commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. Gina worked on a medical-surgical unit at Andrews AFB from 2007-2009. Gina deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 where she served with the 966th Forward Surgical Team.  She separated from the Air Force in 2012. Gina completed her master’s degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife and now works at Mountain Midwifery Center in Englewood, CO.

Rich McKee, Telling: Denver

Richard McKee is a retired US Amy Master Sergeant. He spent most of his twenty-four year career serving as a Paratrooper and in Special Operations. He is currently working on his Bachelors and Masters Degree simultaneously, in the Cyber Security field, at Colorado Technical University. Richard runs a small consulting company and also works in the TV and film industry where he will co-star in a new series, The Operatives, which will debut later this summer.

Jenn Calaway – Telling: Denver

Jenn Calaway joined the Marine Corps in 2006 and earned the Military Occupation Specialties: Public Affairs Specialist, Combat Correspondent and Broadcast Journalist. Jenn deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009, for which she received the Thomas Jefferson Award and Merit Award. Jenn currently attends the University of Colorado Boulder.

We’ve just finished interview trips to Portland, OR, Baltimore, Denver and San Antonio.  We’ve interviewed dozens of fantastic people about their experiences in the military, and we’re not even close to done.  Next stops: Chicago on June 29-July 2, working with the National Veterans Art Museum; and Albuquerque, July 19-22 working with the Museum of the American Military Family.  If you’re a veteran or military family member in either of these communities, and you’re are interested in our work, we’d love to hear from you.  Contact us: info@thetellingproject.org.

In San Antonio

We are excited to be working with San Antonio Public Broadcasting Service affiliate KLRN and Veteran Artist Program to produce “Telling: San Antonio.”  We’re in the KLRN studio in downtown SA this week with BR McDonald of Veteran Artist Program and our director Stacey Shade-Ware conducting interviews with a great group of veterans and military family members.  The mission of KLRN is to enrich the lives of people throughout South Central Texas through the power of communication—providing quality programs and services that advance education, art and culture, and community.

Telling: Aggieland

Interviews completed, cast in place, performance class underway – “Telling: Aggieland,” is well under way under the direction of Texas A & M professor of theatre arts Michael Greenwald and in collaboration with the Texas A & M Veteran Resource and Support Center. “Telling: Aggieland” will be free, performing in the Rudder Theatre on the A & M campus in College Station April 29 through May 1.
